This is a gorgeous petit point purse sewn onto a brass ormolu metal frame inset at the front with onyx and pearl beads - I assume that they are faux. The petit point is the same front and back, featuring a floral bouquet on a greige (greyish beige) background and bordered by flowers on a black background. It has a chain handle and a push down pierced ball clasp. The interior is lined in beige fabric, maybe silk, with a single side pocket. The purse is in very good condition except that the majority of the beads are missing on the frame and part of the frame is poking out at the centre front (see last close-up photo). In addition, there is a fray at the top edge of the lining and a bit of marking or soiling. The purse measures 8 at its widest by 6 1/2 in height, exclusive of its clasp and chain - the chain has a fall of 8.
Despite the small problems, this is a very pretty purse - it would have taken many, many hours of work to complete a needlework of this intricacy. Lovely item, reasonably priced......
